Peggy Shane
PEGGY SHANE-ARNOLD

Date of Passing: November 01, 2014

On November 1, 2014, at the age of 69 years, my beautiful wife Peggy, passed away in my loving arms, no safer a haven. Peggy was everything to me. I have nothing but love, respect, and wonderful memories of our 50 years together.

Peggy was such a talented, intelligent, generous, kind person, with many accomplishments to her credit.

Peggy is survived by her brother Bob (Paulette), various nieces and nephews, and close friend, Shirley Pantel.

Words can never express my sorrow and sadness in losing my soulmate. "Rest in peace dear Peggy. Soon we will be together again"   Forever, your loving husband, Wayne Arnold.

One of the earliest girls to play with the boys was Peggy Shane, who fronted the Bel-Aires and later the VIPs. Shane (Peggy Shinkarik) was the sister of local singer Brian Shane, who had been a member of the Swing Tones. She had often joined him at singing gigs. Around 1962, she assembled the otherwise all-male Bel-Aires, who became a popular fixture on the community club circuit.

“She could do rock numbers as well as pop songs,” says husband and band member Wayne Arnold, “everything from Land of 1000 Dances to Hava Nagila. Back then, you had to be versatile.”
